What is multifamily cabinet installation?

Multifamily cabinet installation is the supply and setting of kitchen cabinets, bath vanities, closet systems, and common area casework across every unit of an apartment, townhome, senior living, or student housing project. It is CSI Division 12 casework, installed after drywall and before countertops.

QBC LLC supplies and installs cabinets for general contractors and developers across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Our primary frameless line is EuroLogiX by Quest Engineering, a cabinetry partner that has served the multifamily industry for over 20 years, with kitchen, bath, and closet systems engineered for the limited space of a unit. We also supply framed and frameless lines from Smart Cabinetry and other manufacturers when the spec calls for them. The crews that set the cabinets work on the same schedule as our finish carpentry and countertop crews, under one project manager, so the handoffs between trades happen on one calendar. Specialty cabinet installations on commercial projects are welcome, but multifamily is where we spend most of our time.

What are frameless cabinets?

Frameless cabinets are built without a face frame. Doors and drawer fronts mount directly to the cabinet box, which gives full overlay fronts, wider drawer openings, and more usable interior space than a framed cabinet of the same footprint. They are also called European style or full access cabinets.

Why do frameless cabinets suit multifamily projects?

Unit kitchens and baths are tight, so every inch of interior space counts. Standard box sizes repeat cleanly across hundreds of units, which simplifies takeoffs, replacements, and punch. Full overlay fronts give a consistent look unit after unit, and European hinges adjust in place when a wall is out of square.

How does QBC protect your cabinet schedule?

Cabinets are one of the longest lead items in the finish schedule, 4 to 6 months from award to installation on a larger multifamily project. We lock samples and shop drawings early, site measure every unit before the order is placed, and schedule deliveries by building so product is not sitting on site getting damaged. Stewardship is one of our twelve core tenets, and measuring before ordering is how we practice it.

Why hire one subcontractor for cabinets, countertops, and trim?

Because the three scopes touch. Cabinets set the countertop template, and trim closes out around both. When QBC holds all three, one project manager builds one schedule: doors, base, and case go in, cabinets follow, countertops are laser templated once the cabinets are set, and the trim crew returns for the final pieces. Pair it with our rough carpentry and the same team frames the building and comes back to finish it. One contract. One contact. Nothing falls between subs.

Our Process

How a QBC cabinetry project runs

  1. Invite us to bid. Send plans to bids@questbuildingcorp.com. We take off and bid every requested scope, labor and materials, under one contract.
  2. Preconstruction. Your project manager is assigned. Contract, plans, and schedule are reviewed with the team. Door styles, finishes, and hardware are approved from samples, shop drawings are signed off, and every unit is site measured before the cabinet order is placed against its lead time, with deliveries scheduled by building.
  3. Installation. One project manager runs the project and coordinates with our Foremen on site. Cabinets set, then countertops template.
  4. Punch. Four rounds: ours, yours, the owner's, and final.
  5. Closeout. Labor and manufacturer warranties sent.

FAQs

Questions about QBC

1
What cabinet lines does QBC supply and install?

QBC supplies and installs EuroLogiX by Quest Engineering, a frameless cabinet line built for multifamily kitchens, baths, and closets, and framed and frameless lines from Smart Cabinetry. We supply other manufacturers when the spec calls for them.

2
Does QBC install cabinets for homeowners?

No. Our cabinet crews work for general contractors and developers on multifamily projects, and we take on specialty cabinet installations on commercial projects. The one place we work directly with homeowners is our Countertop Packages.

3
Does QBC perform site measurements before ordering cabinets?

Yes. QBC conducts a detailed walkthrough and verifies all unit measurements before finalizing orders, which prevents costly errors and ensures cabinets fit correctly on installation day.

4
Should I spec frameless or framed cabinets for an apartment project?

Frameless cabinets have no face frame, so the doors cover the full box and the drawers open wider, which suits tight unit layouts and a modern look. Framed cabinets have a solid frame on the front of the box that the doors attach to, with a wider range of door styles and finishes. QBC installs both and can price both at bid.

5
What makes QBC different from other cabinet installers?

QBC bundles cabinetry with framing, finish carpentry, and countertops under one contract, run by one dedicated project manager. That removes the coordination gaps between trades and gives you a single point of accountability from framing through final install.
