What is commercial countertop installation?
Commercial countertop installation is the templating, fabrication, and setting of kitchen, bath, and common area countertops across a multifamily or commercial building, unit after unit, on the general contractor's schedule. It is CSI Division 12 work. The difference from a single kitchen is volume: one color across 200 units, one seam standard, one delivery sequence by building and floor.
QBC LLC fabricates and installs quartz and granite countertops for multifamily and commercial projects across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. We laser template on site after the cabinets are set, program and cut the stone in our DeForest, Wisconsin shop, and install with our own crews. We are a Cambria dealer. Countertops go under the same contract and the same project manager as our framing, finish carpentry, and cabinetry, so the handoff between cabinets and tops is ours to manage, not yours. Our Countertops Division runs 10 to 15 smaller projects a month alongside its large multifamily work.

How are quartz and granite countertops fabricated at QBC?
Every top goes through the same four steps. First, laser templating on site once cabinets are permanently set, which captures wall irregularities and cutouts to the millimeter. Second, CAD programming, where the template becomes a cut file and seams are placed. Third, fabrication in our DeForest shop on Park Industries equipment: a SABERjet XP sawjet for cutting, a TITAN CNC router with a Z-Laser projector for cutouts and edge profiles, and a YUKON II bridge saw, with a water recycling system behind all of it. Fourth, installation by our own crews. Stewardship is one of our twelve core tenets, and recycling the water we cut with is one way we practice it.
Why does laser templating matter on a multifamily project?
A fit error on one kitchen is a callback. The same error across 60 identical units is a schedule problem. Laser templating after the cabinets are set removes the guesswork, and the same crew that templated the unit usually installs it.

Which countertop should I spec for a multifamily project?
Quartz
Quartz is the most specified top in new multifamily work. Non-porous, no sealing, and consistent color from the first unit to the last.
Granite
Granite gives natural stone at a lower material cost on many colors, with heat resistance that suits common area and amenity kitchens. It needs periodic sealing, which matters to the property manager after turnover.
Color consistency across a large project
Manufacturers recommend fabricating a project from slabs of the same production lot. On large multifamily orders we buy the full project quantity in one lot, so color, pattern, and finish match across phases and buildings instead of drifting slab to slab.
Value engineering
We price quartz and granite in Good, Better, and Best tiers and provide physical samples so you can compare against the original spec. We also fabricate bar and restaurant tops, typically as smaller projects between the large ones. How a QBC countertop project runs
- Invite us to bid. Send plans to bids@questbuildingcorp.com. We take off and bid every requested scope, labor and materials, under one contract.
- Preconstruction. Your project manager is assigned. Contract, plans, and schedule are reviewed with the team, color and slab approvals, edge profiles, and the sink and cutout schedule are signed off, and stone is ordered against lead times with deliveries scheduled by building.
- Installation. Countertops are laser templated after cabinets are set, fabricated in DeForest, and installed by our crews. One project manager runs the project and coordinates with our Foremen on site.
- Punch. Four rounds: ours, yours, the owner's, and final.
- Closeout. Warranties sent, including our 1 year labor warranty on installation.

Questions about QBC
Quartz offers the best return for most rental properties. It needs no sealing, resists the stains and scratches that drive turnover costs, and holds a consistent look across every unit. Granite is close on durability but needs periodic sealing. Laminate costs less up front and gets replaced sooner.
No. Countertop installation requires base cabinets to be permanently installed, level, and secured. Attempting to template or install countertops before cabinets are finalized leads to fit issues, gaps, and callbacks, expensive problems that delay your project.

Standard lead time is 30 days or less from template to installation. Smaller projects can often be turned in two weeks when the schedule allows. Large multifamily orders are planned months ahead during preconstruction.
